The Big Y
“The Big Y” is a podcast that explores peoples’ dreams and life quests with a goal of helping listeners create their own future. The premise: every human being is a story in process with secrets and perspectives useful to others. No matter how young or old, experienced or inexperienced, there are always people two steps behind any interview subject.
Each episode is a 20-minute conversation driven by host Steve Sue to define three themes of a guest’s big “Y” profile: Past, Present and Future. Common themes include key turning points, learnings/advice and exploration of future aspirations with Sue pressing the signature question, “But Why?” to elicit deeper thinking on desires and goals. In video versions such as YouTube, guest profiles are mapped by hand on a big “Y” worksheet with optional screen inserts of the talking heads conversation. Episodes are tagged by key subjects for search convenience and may be offered in collections by subject or sponsorship interest.
Host Steve Sue is a social venturer, primarily as a partner at SaaS Ventures, a software development firm, and as the Chairman of Bizgenics, a Hawaii-based 501(C)(3) that specializes in creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship programs. His career includes 25 years as a story expert, conceptualist and startup guy in entertainment, hospitality, food service, retail, product and software development. Steve holds a BA in design from UCLA and a JD from UC Berkeley. For more, see stevesue.com
